Mark Meadows, former White House Chief of Staff under the Trump administration, has face charges in Arizona that are set to stay in state court as per the ruling of a federal judge. The decision came as a blow to Meadows, who had attempted to move the case to federal court, arguing that he was essentially carrying out duties on behalf of the federal government, thus making it more appropriate for a federal court.
The charges in question pertain to allegations that Meadows violated a state campaign law by not filing all of his spending reports in a timely manner during his tenure. This prompted the Arizona Attorney General to file a lawsuit against him, seeking to hold him accountable.
The judge, however, decided that it was appropriate for the matter to be handled in state court, where the violation allegedly occurred, and where the campaigning law that he violated existed.
