The White Stripes, a former rock band known for chart-topping hits, are taking legal action against Donald Trump. The issue arose over Trump’s use of the band’s popular song ‘Seven Nation Army’ in a campaign video.
Jack White and Meg White, the members of the band, are notoriously protective of their music, and have expressed disappointment that Trump’s campaign did not ask for permission before using the track. They reiterated that neither they nor The White Stripes’ music in any way endorse Trump’s presidency or his campaign.
The band’s legal team has reportedly sent cease-and-desist letters to Trump’s campaign. This isn’t the first time Trump’s campaign has been scrutinized for the unauthorized use of music. Other notable artists including Neil Young and the Rolling Stones have also objected to Trump’s use of their songs.
It remains to be seen how this legal battle will unfold. Meanwhile, The White Stripes have made it clear that they do not support the use of their music being used to further Trump’s political campaign.
