Congresswoman Anna Eshoo (D-CA) announced on Thursday, October 15th that she will not be seeking reelection in 2022 after more than three decades in office.
In a statement, Eshoo said that she looks forward to “a new chapter” and that it is “time for a change.” She added that she is “grateful for every day to serve the people of [her] Congressional District.”
Eshoo has been the representative for CA’s 18th Congressional District since 1993 and is known for her work on healthcare, education, and technology. She is the longest serving woman in the House and is the Chairwoman of the powerful Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee.
Eshoo’s statement was met with praise from both sides of the aisle, who thanked her for her years of service and for her commitment to public service.
