In an interview with The Jerusalem Post, New Jersey governor Chris Christie said that antisemitism in the United States is not necessarily a “rise” but rather an “unmasking” of a prejudice that has been there for a long time. Christie said he will continue to be an advocate for the Jewish community, stating that “antisemitism in all forms, whether it be violence, harassment, rhetoric, or however it manifests itself in our country, is simply unacceptable.” He also expressed dismay at recent vandalism at synagogues and Jewish community centers, and described the acts as “disheartening and heartbreaking.”
