The calls for the resignation of UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres over his comments about the recent rocket attacks from Gaza into Israel have intensified. Guterres had expressed concern over the safety of civilians during these attacks, but a statement from the the Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) said “the UN Secretary General’s failure to condemn the Hamas terror organization-perpetrated attacks on Israel’s civilian population was disgraceful, shameful and antithetical to the UN’s mission of protecting innocent people around the world”. ZOA President Morton A. Klein has urged Sec. Guterres to apologize and resign from his post if these comments were not retracted. Other groups, including the United States and Israel, have joined these calls for Guterres’s accountability.
