Yesterday we spent much of the day out of doors. The weather was perfect. It has been a cold winter (by California standards) and I am so happy to feel that it is spring. The daffodils are blooming, trees are budding and growing and although our garden is mostly winter brown, we can feel the changes.
We live in a great place with wonderful places to go and explore. We drove to Pt. Reyes and spent some time in a marsh to look for birds. We weren’t so lucky, it was a bit too windy for a lot of birds to be out. But even so, it was lovely to be out and experience the wind and the ocean.
We paused for a bit at Chimney Rock, a spectacular location showing off the crashing waves.
We had lunch in Pt. Reyes Station, a colorful and beautiful little town. Our next stop was nearby. We drove to the beautiful Lagomarsino Ranch, a place I had been wanting to visit for a long time.

We enjoyed walking through the fields, looking for birds. We could see the impact that exceeds rain had on the fields, the paths were washed out in spots by the uncommonly heavy rains so far this season.
The river (not seen here) had a lot of water flowing and it was a pleasant surprise to see a trickle in this often dry creek.

Our final stop was at the brilliant Point Reyes Beach to explore another day.
The light was low and golden so we took a stroll. It was lovely.
It was a great day away from our busy lives here in the city. But even on our busiest days, when we just have an hour or so, we make sure to spend time in nature. You will too, I bet.
