On Wednesday, President Donald Trump’s attorneys filed a motion to recuse D.C. District Judge Amit P. Mehta from presiding over a case concerning the president’s potential interference in the 2020 election. The motion argues that Mehta should disqualify himself because of alleged bias and because remarks he made during the hearing appeared to be “tantamount to an adjudication on the merits.” If granted, the motion would require Mehta to pass the case to another judge.
