Texas has sent a 12th bus filled with migrants to Los Angeles, despite the city’s decision to declare itself a sanctuary for immigrants. Mayor Eric Garcetti has warned that the city may seek legal action if Texas continues to send these buses without its consent. The migrants have been sent from detention centers in Texas to California as part of an effort by the Trump administration to relieve overcrowding in the facilities. The mayor has urged Governor Greg Abbott to stop the transfers, citing humanitarian concerns and a lack of capacity for those who are arriving. He has maintained that the city is “exercising its right to protect the community by setting our own policies.” California is one of the most welcoming states in the nation when it comes to immigrants and refugees.
