The US Marines have identified three Marines who were killed when their MV-22 Osprey aircraft crashed into shallow water off the east coast of Australia on Saturday. The deceased are identified as 1st Lt. Benjamin Cross, Cpl. Nathaniel Ordway, and Pfc. Ruben Velasco. Lt. Cross, a 26-year-old native of Oxford, Maine, was assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 265 (VMM-265). Cpl. Ordway, a 21-year-old native of Sedgwick, Kansas, was assigned to Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron 152 (VMGR-152). Pfc. Velasco, a 19-year-old native of Los Angeles, California, was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
